Why waterjet cutting suits plastic & acrylic
Cutting acrylic with a laser produces a clean edge too, but the heat involved can leave a yellowed or hazy line on coloured or cast acrylic, and it isn’t an option at all for some plastics — PVC releases harmful fumes when heated, and polycarbonate doesn’t respond well to laser cutting at all. Waterjet sidesteps all of that. Because it’s a cold process, there’s no melting, no discolouration, and no toxic fumes, so it works just as well on clear acrylic as it does on PVC, polycarbonate, and HDPE
Multiple sheets can be stacked and cut together, which keeps production runs efficient without compromising on edge quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the cut edge of my acrylic be clear, or cloudy?
Waterjet cutting won't melt or yellow the edge, but the cut itself has a frosted, satin texture rather than the glass-clear polished edge a laser leaves on acrylic. If you need a fully polished edge, let us know and we can advise on next steps.
Can you cut PVC and polycarbonate as well as acrylic?
Yes — waterjet handles PVC and polycarbonate cleanly, without the fumes or melting risk that comes with heat-based cutting.
